Life is Good

Summer arrived in Boston simultaneously with the Yankees. The Red Sox and Yankees played Round One of the 09 baseball season.

You don't have to be a Red Sox fan to have enjoyed these three games. The first game was a see-saw for the lead; Saturday's game was a marathon of hits; and last night's game was the appropriate crescendo with dramatic plays - an intentional walk to YOUK to get to hitless JD Drew - who doubled as their payback; Big Pappi got warm -finally; and Ellsbury stole home - yes, he did! A sweep - get out the brooms!

PhotoHunt: Protect

This is a mural from the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. It depicts a Hawaiian outrigger. Another example of protecting the Hawaiian legacy.

Attitude, my dear

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes. ~ Charles R. Swindoll

Marathon Monday

It's the weekend of sports in Boston - Red Sox (finally out of the cellar. -- yeah, Girasoli - huh?); Bruins are up two games to the Canadians in hockey; we won't discuss the injury-laden Celtics; and the town is abuzz with beaucoup visitors for tomorrow's Boston Marathon. It's the first time in years that an American has a serious hope in winning. Heartbreak Hill is the first of all the 'hills' of the marathon and they fall in Newton. From Boston College then it's all downhill, through Cleveland Circle and down to the Prudential into Copley Square. I'll be watching it on TV and laying bark mulch.

Now, if the weather continues to cooperate it will be a GREAT long weekend. That's right, for us, it's a holiday.Remember - The British are coming and One if by land and Two if by sea? It's Patriot's Day weekend in Beantown...Hope you all had a relaxing weekend.
