PhotoHunt: Heart

Well, it has to be the anthurium! These plants were imported from Hawaii (most of Hawaii's plants are imported) from England in the 1800's. Over the ages, it has come to represent 'hospitality' due to its heart shape. The anthurium have been cultivated so that there are now many varieties and colors, although it typically has a bold red flower.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi M, great choice for the Heart theme. I love anthuriums. They are beautiful and last so long. I did not know that they had been imported from England in the 1800's. Very interesting. They look like they originated in Hawaii.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Interesting to think that plants from England can also grow in Hawaii. I guess in England, these would only bloom in the summer?
