PhotoHunt: Veterans
A few photos taken in April on our trip to DC. The WWII memorial took a while to come to fruition, but it is awesome to see the care and thought that is evident in this structure. Each state is represented by the columns surrounding the fountain of hope. Of course, the Vietnam memorial, both the wall and the soldiers statue evoke many unpleasant memories for me as this was my era. The nurses tribute is long overdue. The Korean Conflict tribute is unique with the soldiers seemingly marching through a field, the wall beside them being a reflection to enhance your visualization of more troops.

Great photos of those powerful memorials. I saw the WWII one for the first time a couple of years ago. Very impressive. I liked all that white stone.
Hope you're having a good weekend.
Excellent photos. You've captured the moving experiences of visiting each of the memorial.
Great photos! I would love to go back to DC to see all of these memorials. I was there back in the 70's before any (I believe) were built. I had not heard of the Korean memorial before. It is so realistic!
G: So glad the realism of the Korean memorial came through in the photos because coming upon this memorial sent chills down my spine. It was so lifelike, and we happened upon it coming over a slight ridge from the Washington memorial. It was a little eery...
Hi Flygirl, great photos and perfect choice for this week's theme! Each photo speak volumes and are so moving! I hope to see them in person some day.
Thank you so much for sharing these images.
