Poem of the Day

Mea culpa for being a bad blogger lately. Between hot summer weather, vacations and a new computer, well, you know how the time just seems to slip by. I happened on a Pablo Neruda poem that I had on an old inactive blog. THought you might enjoy it.

DON'T GO FAR OFF, NOT EVEN FOR A DAY
Don't go far off, not even for a day, because --
because -- I don't know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.

Don't leave me, even for an hour, because
then the little drops of anguish will all run together,
the smoke that roams looking for a home will drift
into me, choking my lost heart.

Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach;
may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.
Don't leave me for a second, my dearest,

because in that moment you'll have gone so far
I'll wander mazily over all the earth, asking,
Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?

Love the poem! Let's hope the East Coast heat wave is short-lived (it's brutally hot here in NC right now).

I love Pablo Neruda. I saw your upcoming trip to Fireze in Sept. Here is the jewelry shop which is called Falsi Gioielli, via de’Ginori 34r & via dei Tavolini, 5r

The two locations are listed above. I will be there is August. Do you know the little hole in the wall sandwich place called "I Fratellini?" so cute and great sandwiches. Locals line up for them and a glass of wine. You sit or stand in the little alleyway street and then place your wine glass when empty on a rack on the wall. Have Fun.
