Gratitude Friday: Books

More specifically, books by Pat Conroy. I fell in love with his writing with The Great Santini, which lured me into reading The Prince of Tides. His new book, South of Broad, does not let me down. His artistry and the images he paints with his words are masterful. Who else could describe the his father's love of stars as "love songs written to him by God"?

Hi Flygirl, I love the movie Prince of tides but have never read any of his books. Thanks for the review of his newest novel. I will have to check it out on my next trip to B&N.

Thanks so much for sharing. Something very beautiful to be grateful for.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I haven't read anything by Conroy, but am very intrigued. I love writing that is full of imagery. And really love that line about the stars, how beautifully poetic. Thanks for introducing me to this author!

I've read all his books and enjoyed South of Broad a lot. Have you read The Pat Conroy Cookbook? It's really a memoir with recips. I was so surprised to learn that he wrote The Prince of Tides while living in Rome!

Many thanks for your comments. Kathy, if you enjoyed the movie, I think the book may be better. At least that seems to be the case most times. Anne, I think you might like him - he's always writing about relationships and describes the South quite poetically in all the books I've read of his. Annie, I'll have to check out his cookbook. Ahh, there's always 'good' that's associated with Rome, no?
