I visited New York City often as my daughter has resided there for the last 5 years. Great happening, lively, fast-paced city with nothing wanting to do to fill you mind.

This photo was taken from the top of the Empire State Building. Images of Sleepless in Seattle running through my head!

I love the shot with the Chrysler building in the foreground. It does remind on of Sleepless in Seattle.

Hi Flygirl, that is a great view and wonderful photo. And you are right, it does remind me too of the movie Sleepless in Seattle. I agree about the fast pace of NY too. I visited a friend there years ago and I could barely keep up with her walking around and wasn't used to crossing the street with the "don't walk" blinking. I stopped and my friend kept going so I followed. It's a fantastic city and so much to do.

Ha, Kathy! I've got experience with crossing with the No Crossing light flashing -being from Boston helps:-) You can even see (dimly) the Statue of Liberty in the distance in that photo. She's over on the left-hand side. Did I mention it was a freezing cold day when that photo was shot?

Hi Flygirl, interesting about the Don't walk sign. Maybe it is a east coast vs west coast thing. I think I see Ms Liberty in the distance. I remember it being really windy and cold at the top of the Empire State building on my visit too. I even remember while my friend was at work on my first day, I had the bright idea of catching the train to up town and I ended up in Queens. And once while on a bus I was lost and asked a lady for directions, the whole bus started to discuss amongst themself what would be the best way for me to get back then proceeded to all at the same time give me the directions. It was so cool and they were so helpful. After those two episodes, my friend took off from work for the rest of the week to escort me around town. :)

Thanks so much for this post and for bringing back those fond memories. That's so wonderful that your daughter lives there and you can visit her. Great city.

I think I can see Ms Liberty in the distance. How cool. I remember the top of the Empire State Building being very windy and cold too and I think I was there in September. Gosh I haven't thought of my trip in years. I remember on my first day while waiting for my friend to get off work, I decided to visit up town. I took the subway and ended up in Queens. Then somehow I ended up on a bus to try to get back to my friend's apt but ended up on the wrong bus and everyone was trying to give me directions on which stop to get off and how to get back. My friend took the rest of the week off after hearing about my adventures so she can escort me around town. :)

Thanks so much for bringing back all of my fond memories of New York. It's so wonderful that your daughter lives there now and it's so cool that you visited her. It's a great and fascinating city.

Kathy: I feel the same way about New Yorkers. They get a 'bum rap'. They are very helpful - will ignore you but if you ask for help, they are there for you - even a bus load:-)
