Can you smell me now?

Both my maternal and paternal grandparents lived in the North End of Boston. To this day, I remember the aroma of baked bread - it was the signal on Atlantic Avenue that I had arrived at the North End. When we were kids, we used to take warm scali bread and dip it into a simmering pot of 'gravy' as a snack. Boy, I sure do miss this smell...

Definitely. I love the smell of warm crisp bread. Growing up in California we had a very different type of Italian bread. Large fat rustic types. I loved riding my bike to one and getting a warm loaf.

Lucky you! I loved going to the North End. My great grandparents (Italian side of the family) both lived in the North End when they first came to the US from Italy. They were also married there. Oh and I love the smell of fresh bread!

So we are up to 3 now!! Today was my last day of work (officially anyways - still have to go in for 3 more meetings). I rushed home to listen to the game. Fell asleep right after Papi's HR and woke up just before Green's HR! Bummed I slept through much of the game but psyched they won again against the Yankees! GO SOX!!

Go Sox for sure - 6 games straight beating the Yankees...Was happy for Papi altho he seemed disgusted with himself for popping up later. But maybe this is the 'monkey off his back'?

Hi Flygirl, thank you for visiting my blog, I see we share some of this food related emotions! Ah the semll of bread, that's entirely Umbrian to me. The oft mistreated saltless Umbrian bread is something I cant' live without. That's really a smell of home!
